Children had also a significant influence on the album, a shift towards compositions that were less complex and more radio-friendly.

The band wrote almost two CDs worth of material, including a 20 minutes long monitoring images words and song "Metropolis Part 1: The Miracle and the Sleeper ". The label, however, does not allow the use of a double album, because The Commission found that 140 minutes of recording is not be digestible by the general public. James LaBrie also that the CD should be the same instrument. The unused songs were later free to release Ytsejam The Archives Falling Into Infinity Demos.

The material that made up the album proper was released as Falling Into Infinity, which received a mixed reception from fans who were more familiar with previous sound of the band. Mike Portnoy started an official bootlegs series in response to Dream Theater fans affinity 'For live versions of concert them. Dream Theater is one of the most actively made smuggling bands in the progressive nature metal. From the very first shows the In New York, Your Majesty, fans recorded almost every show that Dream Theater have played (occasionally there are three or four variations of a single concert), and some very elaborate Professional and recordings have released.

However, not every member of the band condones the release of Dream Theater bootlegs. Portnoy is the most pro-smuggling State, since he was a passionate collector of many bootlegs younger days and hides his own personal record of Dream Theater material in his basement. Petrucci and LaBrie expressed opposition to people subscription concerts them. Petrucci disagrees with smugglers, it prefers Members of the public to focus on live musicians on stage, rather than adjustments level on the recorder them. LaBrie, on the other hand, supports that trafficking takes ownership and control performance of Dream Theater from the band themselves and into the hands government. Myung has expressed mild opposition to smuggling, but in some interviews said he does not take very big issue with it.

Dream Theater have released a series of official bootlegs, demos and other rare through YtseJam Records, headed by Portnoy. Include demos the band released before the official discography and many live times, as it shows where the band has covered this album. Albums covered include The Dark Side of the Moon, Made in Japan, Master of Puppets, and the number the Beast.

Cover songs

Dream Theater has been known for covering work of other artists' throughout their careers. They took the practice is a new level during the promotional tour for Six Degrees Inner Turbulence. In three special concerts, one in Barcelona, Chicago and New York, covered Master of Metallica of Puppets album in its entirety after a full set of Dream Theater material. This came as a surprise to fans as there was no indication that this was happening, except than that announced that the gigs involved, which, during the second night of two stand nights in each city will be "a special. This tradition can probably reducible to one of my favorite bands of Mike Portnoy, the Phish, who began a series of performing "musical costumes" all albums by other artists all Halloween started in 1994. Portnoy devised this to "cover" as the first in a series from gigs to be played as tributes in bands that were influential in shaping and development of Dream Theater. The covers set divided many fans who attended demonstrations, with some people saying that went to a concert Dream Theater to see original music and not the work of another artist. Others, however, said it was a bonus and not a replacement for normal Dream Theater concert, since a usual concert was played in the previous evening.

On the next leg of the tour to match the number of his Iron Maiden Beast and received a similar response Master of Puppets, although it was already known that a cover should be executed that night because The tour itinerary included two consecutive concerts in one city. On 11 Οκτώβρη του 2005, Dream Theater covered the Pink Floyd The Dark Side of the Moon. Dream Theater official website said the second set the second night Amsterdam, London, Buenos Aires So Paulo, and Tokyo (11 October 25 October; December 4, 1911 December, and January 13 respectively) and the second set the January 15 show in Osaka, it would a classic album covered in whole. The Dark Side of the Moon played and again on October 25 in London. However, in Buenos Aires (December 4) So Paulo (December 1911) the 'classic album " played was Dream Theater Metropolis own Pt. 2: Scenes a Memory, to make up for not having visited Argentina and Brazil in the Metropolis 2000 tour them. On 13 January 2006 (Tokyo) and 15 (Osaka), Dream Theater covered live album by Deep Purple Made in Japan. Portnoy says he has one more cover show planned, but denies to reveal when it will happen or what album should be covered.

During Gigantour 2005, Dream Theater did a cover of the Pantera "Cemetery Gates "as a tribute to" Dimebag "Darrel Lance Abbott. As an additional advantage, had Burton C. The Bell of Fear Factory, and Russell Allen of Symphony X do guest vocals and Dave Mustaine of Megadeth, then the main solo for the song.

In March 2006, Dream Theater played the rare song Rush «Ladder Jacob "at a show in Toronto. John Petrucci said few days later in Asbury Park, New Jersey, before appearance of the night, "Rush will not play, so we wanted to play for them. "

In addition, Dream Theater released many Live versions on their EP A Change of eras, including songs by Elton John, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Journey, Kansas, and Dregs Dixie.

In 2008, they recorded a version of Iron Maiden's "To tame a Land" a collection titled magazine Kerrang Maiden Heaven. This The song was later included in special edition of dark clouds and Silver Investments

Dream Theater also recorded some covers the 2009 album of the Black Clouds & Silver Investments. The songs were a disk bonus in the special edition versions of the album.

Dream Theater played "Hava Nagila", a traditional Jewish song, during the "Metropolis Pt 1:. The Miracle and the Sleeper" to a sold-out concert in Tel Aviv, Israel on June 16, 2009.

On August 14, 2009 during a demonstration Toronto, Dream Theater played the song Rush "The Eye Camera», the was originally released on Moving Pictures album Rush's.
