panic attack at school
How do I deal with Panic Attacks at school? Please help?

Ok, I've always been a fairly confident person. Now, as a freshman in high school, I feel vulnerable beyond belief. Mostly in English class. In English, I do not feel comfortable at all. One time, I had my first panic attack while playing aloud. I have not had to read since then, but we are starting a new book soon and I am so afraid. Also, I did not have many friends in this class and a sense of inferiority to everyone. I think it's the fear of another attack that paralyzed me, rather than the actual reading. PLEASE HELP. Encouraging words / METHODS-Anything. I'm not looking to any drug. I just want to go to English rather than the reduced pressure and anxiety.

Firstly, you are inferior to anyone. Learn to accept that fact. You are as good as anyone else. Ask yourself a few questions to help put your fears perspective. What is the worst thing that can happen if you do not well read? Can you handle it? Is this the end of the world? What if you do not choke and eventually read? What if you do not have to read loud? This is just another class. He will not make or break you. It's just a class. Practice reading aloud. Do you have friends or family you have could read in front of? Keep telling yourself it's just a class, once you are required to read aloud and you will live through it, whatever arrives. It does not affect your well-being or life. It's just an hour out of 24 you have to live. Only one hour. You can do it. Just try to relax and know that this is not life or death. Take deep breaths when you think of English class. View as a learning opportunity, not as a bedroom torture. I know you will do well next time you have to read. You can do it!
